From Mission Dolores, the city's first stone building or the city’s legendary cable cars to the high-tech Financial District. A trip to San Francisco is bound to leave you with incredible memories. A boat trip is a great way to explore the “City by the Bay.” Explore Fisherman's Wharf, full of shops, galleries and restaurant offering delicious seafood. Stroll down the Golden Gate and admire the views over the bay and the Pacific Ocean, visit the various maritime museums, and , of course, no visit to San Francisco is complete without an excursion to Alcatraz, the island prison that once held some of the country’s most notorious criminals, such as Al Capone. If it’s a more relaxed environment you’re after, pass through the stately architecture and flowing lagoon of the Palace of Fine Arts. The Transamerica Pyramid has become the city's most famous landmark. The 260 metre high pyramid structure is situated in the heart of the Financial District. Located between three hills, San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest Chinese settlement outside Asia with pagodas, colourful bunting, decorated balconies and Chinese characters combining with the sounds and exotic aromas of this fascinating area. The Painted Ladies are charming Victorian wooden houses situated on the fringe of Alamo Square and the Haas-Lilienthal House is a well-maintained jewel of a bygone era. San Francisco thrives on variety and has a contagious energy. This city is magical and everyone should come here at least once.

2. Yosemite National Park, CA
Stay
About the destination: Yosemite National Park, nestled in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains, is one of the United States’ most iconic natural treasures. Famous for its dramatic granite cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and giant sequoias, the park offers stunning scenery in every direction. Whether you’re standing in the middle of Yosemite Valley surrounded by towering rock faces, or looking out from a high viewpoint over endless forested ridges, the sense of scale and wilderness is unforgettable. The park’s most recognizable landmarks include El Capitan and Half Dome, massive granite monoliths that attract rock climbers and photographers from around the world. Yosemite Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in North America, roars to life in spring as snowmelt surges through the valley. For classic views, don’t miss Tunnel View, where you can see El Capitan, Bridalveil Fall, and Half Dome all in one sweeping panorama, especially beautiful at sunrise or sunset. Yosemite is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts, with activities for every level of adventure. There are easy, family‑friendly walks to Mirror Lake or the base of Yosemite Falls, as well as challenging day hikes like the Mist Trail to Vernal and Nevada Falls. With the proper permits and preparation, experienced hikers can tackle the iconic Half Dome cable route. In winter, the park transforms into a snowy wonderland, offering cross‑country skiing, snowshoeing, and ice skating at Curry Village. Planning ahead is essential, as Yosemite is extremely popular, especially from late spring to early fall. Accommodation ranges from simple campgrounds and tent cabins to historic lodges like The Ahwahnee, but reservations often sell out months in advance. Check current conditions, road closures, and any reservation requirements on the official National Park Service website before you go, and remember that wildlife safety and Leave No Trace principles are key to protecting this extraordinary landscape for future visitors.

3. Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park CA
Stay
About the destination: Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, nestled in California’s southern Sierra Nevada, are twin treasures famous for their giant sequoia trees and dramatic mountain scenery. Here you can stand beneath General Sherman, the largest tree on Earth by volume, and wander through groves where trunks as wide as small houses rise into the sky. The parks’ elevation ranges from oak-studded foothills to high alpine peaks over 14,000 feet, creating a remarkable variety of landscapes within a relatively compact area. Most visitors begin in Sequoia National Park, exploring the Giant Forest area, home not only to General Sherman but also to accessible trails like Congress Trail and Big Trees Trail. A short drive away, the steep switchbacks up to Moro Rock reward you with sweeping views over the Great Western Divide, while nearby Tunnel Log offers a classic photo opportunity. For a quieter experience, Crescent Meadow and Hazelwood Nature Trail provide serene walks among wildflowers and towering trees, especially in late spring and early summer. Kings Canyon, often less crowded, offers a more rugged, wilderness feel. The scenic Kings Canyon Byway descends dramatically into one of North America’s deepest canyons, following the South Fork of the Kings River past granite cliffs, waterfalls, and lush meadows. Popular stops include Grizzly Falls, Zumwalt Meadow, and the Grant Grove area, where General Grant—the “Nation’s Christmas Tree”—stands as another iconic giant sequoia. This side of the park is ideal for those who enjoy longer hikes, river viewpoints, and backcountry trailheads. The best time to visit is generally from late May through October, when most roads and high-country trails are open and snow has receded from higher elevations. Summer brings warm days and cool nights, while spring and fall offer fewer crowds and vivid seasonal color. Winter transforms the parks into a snowy wonderland, with limited access but opportunities for snowshoeing and peaceful walks among sequoias draped in snow. Whenever you go, be prepared for rapid weather changes, respect wildlife, and give yourself time—these parks reward unhurried exploration.

4. Las Vegas NV
Stay
About the destination: Las Vegas is the largest city in the U.S. state of Nevada. Nicknamed the Entertainment Capital of the World or Sin City, it is situated in the Mojave Desert and is surrounded by dry mountains. Las Vegas is famous worldwide for its consolidated casino–hotels and associated entertainment. The city houses many mega-hotel complexes decorated with lavish care and attention to detail creating a fantasy-like environment. All hotels have a unique style, there are special sights everywhere, and every hotel has its own casino. Most of the hotel casinos are in the city's downtown area, along The Las Vegas Strip. The Strip is a world of its own. Where else can you go to visit Egypt, New York, Venice, Disneyland, Hollywood, and much more all on one street? The fact is that all the action that Las Vegas is famous for is happening on this one and only street. Bellagio could be considered unofficial centre of the Strip, one of the reasons being the free displays of musical fountains which go off at every half an hour with different choreography accompanied by different music. Bellagio is one of the more stylish venues with a superb flower garden and for those with gourmet inclinations, it offers arguably one of the best buffets in town. The Venetian is another point where one might linger longer due to its fabulous attempt of recreating Venice in the desert. The main square of Venice is filled with gondolas ply the waters channels and opera singers entertain their captive audience on board. The opposite end of the Strip is closest to the airport starting with the funny rendition of Egypt with its Luxor casino despite the fact that there are no pyramids in Luxor, but everything is possible in Las Vegas.

5. Monument Valley UT
Stay
About the destination: Monument Valley, straddling the border between Utah and Arizona, is one of the most iconic landscapes in the American Southwest. Towering sandstone buttes rise dramatically from a vast red desert floor, creating a cinematic backdrop that has appeared in countless Western films and commercials. The scenery is especially spectacular at sunrise and sunset, when the rocks glow in shades of orange, crimson, and purple under the changing light. Most visitors begin at the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, where an entrance fee grants access to the 17-mile Valley Drive, a rough dirt road that winds past many of the valley’s most famous formations, such as the Mittens and Merrick Butte. While self-driving is possible in suitable vehicles, hiring a Navajo guide is highly recommended. Guided tours, often in open-air 4x4s, not only reach viewpoints off-limits to private cars, but also offer insight into Navajo history, culture, and traditions tied to this sacred landscape. Accommodation ranges from simple motels in nearby Kayenta and Mexican Hat to the more atmospheric lodges and cabins around the park. Staying overnight allows you to experience the valley at its quietest, with dark skies full of stars and the silhouettes of buttes on the horizon. For a closer connection with the land, some local operators offer overnight experiences and traditional meals hosted by Navajo families. When planning your visit, keep in mind that this is Navajo Nation land, and local customs and rules should be respected. Distances in the region are long, services can be sparse, and temperatures swing from very hot in summer to freezing in winter. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, and a full tank of gas, and consider combining Monument Valley with other nearby attractions such as the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, or Lake Powell to create a memorable Southwest road trip.

7. Bryce Canyon National Park UT
Stay
About the destination: Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah is a landscape so surreal it feels almost otherworldly. The park’s signature formations—tall, thin spires of rock called hoodoos—glow in shades of red, orange, and pink, especially at sunrise and sunset. Unlike a traditional canyon carved by a single river, Bryce is a series of natural amphitheaters eroded from the eastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau, offering sweeping, elevated viewpoints rather than rim-to-river hikes. Most visitors start at Bryce Amphitheater, where overlooks like Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point, and Bryce Point are all accessible by car and short walks. From these viewpoints, you can gaze across thousands of hoodoos packed into dramatic formations. To get closer, hike down into the amphitheater on trails like Navajo Loop or Queen’s Garden, which wind among towering rock spires and natural bridges, providing a completely different perspective than from above. The park lies at a high elevation—between 8,000 and 9,000 feet (2,400–2,700 m)—so temperatures can be cool, even in summer, and snow is common in winter. This elevation also means thinner air, so take your time on hikes and drink plenty of water. Midsummer brings warm days and occasional thunderstorms, while spring and fall offer milder conditions and fewer crowds. Winter transforms the hoodoos with snow, creating stark contrasts that are popular with photographers and snowshoers alike. Bryce Canyon is also designated as a Dark Sky Park, making it one of the best places in the United States to stargaze. On clear nights you can see the Milky Way arching overhead, and the park often offers ranger-led astronomy programs. Whether you spend a few hours at the main viewpoints or several days exploring the backcountry, Bryce Canyon rewards unhurried exploration and a willingness to simply stand still and take in its strange, beautiful scenery.
