6. Portland ME
Stay
About the destination: Two hours north of Boston is Portland, the capital of the state of Maine, known for its gastronomic offer and beer production. We can stroll through the cobbled streets of Puerto Viejo and visit shops and art galleries. To eat you should go to J's Oyster, an old school place where you can taste a good lobster and other seafood. In Eventide, a much more modern and modern restaurant, the offer of oysters that welcome us as soon as we enter will leave us wanting to return. From Portland you can take a ferry to some island of Casco Bay, such as Peaks Island, where only 15 minutes from the capital seems to time slows down. You can rent a golf cart to walk around or get our bike to the boat. You should visit the state's oldest lighthouse, Portland Head Light.
