It is the launching point for trips to Komodo Island and Rinca Island, home to the famous Komodo dragons. The port has daily ferry departures to Bima and weekly or bi-weekly departures to Denpasar and Sulawesi.

About the destination: The southern part of Bali, although generally chaotic and too touristy, has the best beaches on the island and several interesting sightseeing tours, so if you travel to this destination, I recommend you spend at least three full days there.
